Lynn Emmanuel - April Member of the Month

Lynn Emmanuel - April/May Member of the Month

Congratulations to PhillyCAM’s April Member of the Month, Lynn Emmanuel. Lynn attended orientation and became a member in October of 2011 following PhillyCAM’s move to its new location on Ranstead Street.

When asked how she became involved with PhillyCAM, Lynn recalls listening to a Radio interview eight months ago featuring the Executive Director of PhillyCAM, Gretchen Clausing. Gretchen was sharing the journey and the future of PhillyCAM and invited creative people to become members. Lynn recalled her early aspirations to produce a television show, she dismissed those thoughts, made alternative career choices, abandon her creative interest and pursued a public service career track. As life happened, opportunities changed and the current recession directly impacted Lynn’s life, she assessed her resources and her talents.

Thinking the radio interview, taped almost a year prior, was live Lynn delayed contacting PhillyCAM until on a lunch break she walked directly pass the new PhillyCAM offices. Clearly God was shining the light, Lynn made a simple decision to try and pursue a tremendous opportunity at Philly cam. With encouragement and the invitation from a radio conversation, Lynn walked into the PhillyCAM offices.

When asked, why join Philly cam, Lynn’s, responds “Membership has its privileges and opportunities”; it’s affordable, offers access to training, access to talent, option to learn and produce quality programming, state of the art equipment and studios and the possibility to have your program air on cable television is huge. However the invaluable lessons come through the people. There is real synergy at Philly cam starting with the staff. Lynn is amazed at what is possible when a measure of confidence and effort are mixed together. The “can do” mindset of the Philly cam staff is infectious, you are surrounded by energy that constantly supports and encourages you.

Since becoming a member of the Philly cam family, Lynn has; rediscovered her creative juices, harnessed transferrable skills, shared and grown. In five short months Lynn has; volunteered and delivered audio narratives and bumpers for voice-over opportunities at Philly cam, become certified in Final Cut Pro, created and completed the first taping of her show, ‘A Simple Conversation, ASC)’.

ASC, is a monthly cable television program featuring local Non-Profit Organizations and Foundations providing services to the Philadelphia community. The future for ASC will include young correspondents interested in the merits of service and in developing their stories on organizations that exemplify service to others. As Lynn shared, “Service is a principle to success in life”. It is this knowledge, Lynn hopes to impart on young correspondents as they express their thoughts and lend their voices to the world through, “A Simple Conversation”. ASC will premiere on Philly cam cable television in the summer of 2012.

Lynn encourages everyone to support Phillycam public access cable television, become a member or support Philly Cam through a donation.
