Job Title: PCAM Voices Community News Co-Producer

PhillyCAM is looking to hire an in house producer for our monthly Community News television program. The Producer will be responsible for helping identify and train interested members in the different roles needed to produce a monthly 30-minute community news program. The show will highlight cultural, political, and civic events around the city, and be hosted by an anchor in the Express Studio each month.

The Producer will work with the Voices Co-Producer and PhillyCAM staff to facilitate the planning and development of the necessary trainings, and work with producers to coordinate assignments and delivery of material. Producers will work with PhillyCAM staff to help define the framework for evaluating story ideas and pitches, and to coordinate assignments and delivery of material.

The producer will support with outreach and serve as the primary point of contact for communication for story pitches and event coverage requests. Past shows and segments can be viewed on the PhillyCAM Voices Youtube playlist.

Job Responsibilities 

Administration

  • Work with PhillyCAM Staff to develop a communication system for reporters, camera crew and editors to respond to assignments
  • Support PCAM staff with trainings for news team participants as needed
  • Confirm production logistics with news team members and assist with equipment reservation needs and technical questions
  • Work with segment producers to prepare them for production
  • Write description and gather pertinent information from each show to share with PhillyCAM staff for programming and outreach needs

Post Production

  • Work with segment producers to coordinate delivery of media files
  • Work with segment producers to write and record tracks for their stories when necessary
  • Assist with editing of final stories when necessary

 

 

Required Experience 

  • Experience with news reporting and producing
  • Experience with coordinating production crews and shoots
  • Familiarity with Journalism standards for broadcast
  • Ability to work well independently and with others
  • Familiarity with Philadelphia’s cultural and civic associations

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills, capacity to troubleshoot, and make recommendations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse public
  • Position may require evening and weekend work hours

Compensation 

This is a 20 hour/month position at $25/hour. This position would be for a renewable six-month term beginning October, 2017.
