Calling All City Council Candidates

We believe community media is vital in providing Philadelphia voters with information about local elections and candidates.

In that spirit, we invite City Council candidates running in contested races to participate in PhillyCAM’s 2023 Primary Candid Candidates series of video shorts for online distribution.

By participating as a Candid Candidate,City Council candidates running in contested races, will record a high-quality video message that will be broadcast on PhillyCAM’s cable television channel, shared online, and available to be embedded on your campaign website and shared via social media.

PhillyCAM’s Candid Candidates series is free, non-partisan, and scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. It is open to all candidates in this contested City Council race on the 2023 Primary Election Ballot. This series is an excellent opportunity to reach voters via video in this crowded field.

Tapings will be held the week of March 20 at PhillyCAM’s studios at:
699 Ranstead Street - 1st Floor
(on 7th Street between Chestnut and Market Streets).

What to expect

You will select two questions at random when you arrive at PhillyCAM. But you will have a chance to preview the questions before the taping.

One question will be from a Philadelphia voter, crowdsourced via the collaborative reporting project, Broke in Philly. Ex: What would you do to improve job-training opportunities throughout the city?

The second question will reveal a more personal side of you. Ex: Who or what inspires you?

All messages will be formatted the same way. We will not accept video recorded at other locations. To reserve your time slot, go to: https://calendly.com/phillycam/council-videos.

Where will it be seen?

PhillyCAM’s Candid Candidates will be on PhillyCAM’s website – phillycam.org/watch, by May 1, in addition to our Youtube Channel and socials and featured in our newsletter.

It will air on PhillyCAM’s channels Xfinity 66/966 and Fios 29/30, Roku, Apple TV, PhillyCAM web channel several times  up to the Primary Election on May 16.

We will also provide the video to you. You can share it via social media or embed it on your page.
