December Member of the Month, Erick Barragán
Erick Barragán, born in Mexico in 1985, is an attorney dedicated to human rights. He earned his law degree in Mexico, focusing on human and labor rights early in his career. He began his professional journey at the Human Rights Commission in Mexico before moving to Philadelphia in 2017. Since then, he has worked with organizations focused on migration services, such as Esperanza and Catholic Social Services.
In 2021, Erick was honored with the "40 Under 40" award for his dedication to the community and promising future. He has been a fellow at both PhillyCAM and cineSPEAK. At PhillyCAM, he produced television content, while at cineSPEAK, he contributed a special section titled "Philadelphia Organization Spotlight," highlighting local organizations that support cinema in Philadelphia.
Starting in December, his podcast Cinepamina will air on PhillyCAM, featuring existing and new content. Erick continues to host Cinepamina on Philatinos Radio, broadcast on YouTube, where he explores cultural and cinematic topics. He is a tireless advocate for the migrant community and cultural diversity and currently works as a freelance reporter for Impacto Media.
