September Member of the Month, Rachel Godfrey
"I joined PhillyCAM in 2023 as a Community News Reporting Fellow, working on PhillyCAM Voices. The fellowship was the best introduction I could have received to the heart of what PhillyCAM is; my cohort was comprised of some of the most brilliant, curious, and supportive people in the community media space.
Later in the year, I had an idea for a musician spotlight show and reached out to Gabe (Castro) about how to make it happen. I was scared and a bit overwhelmed (I get like that sometimes, lol) but soon found out PhillyCAM was developing the TV Studio Fellowship, which paired Directors and Producers together to bring a show idea to life. Through the Producer track of the fellowship and the support of great instructors (thanks Ryan and Chad), a wonderful cohort, and a supportive crew, the show City Rhythms was born :)
PhillyCAM has treated me so kindly. I meet and laugh with someone new every time I step foot into space, and that's really special. PhillyCAM has helped me tune into how expansive my imagination can be, the importance of my voice, and that collaboration and creativity are what we need to live well."
