The Sisters Action Media Project is a ten-week video production and media literacy training that empowers young women between the ages of 14-18 to critique, produce and distribute media. Participants will develop their media technology and critical thinking skills, and increase their self-confidence in the process. Each participant will complete an individual short film and a short documentary related to community or social justice. Following the project, participants will host a community screening and peer workshop at PhillyCam Studio.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS AND DEADLINES: Applicants must be young women between the ages of 14-18 at start of program.
Applicants must submit the following materials by Thursday, March 1, 2012
- Application form
- One Letter of Recommendation from a teacher
- One (Optional) Letter of Recommendation from someone who knows you well
Applicants may be contacted for interviews. Interviews will be held at PhillyCam Studio between March 1 – March 5.
Acceptances will be announced March 8.
PROGRAM DATES: March 26 – June 2, Mondays 4-6pm and Saturdays 12-2pm. Except for Memorial Day weekend and Easter weekend.
