Lip Sync Animation Class for Youth 12-18

Monday, July 6, 2026 - 10:00am to Friday, July 10, 2026 - 3:00pm

Join us for this 1 week summer animation workshop!

July 6- July 10, 2026

10 am - 3 pm. Following each session there will be optional open lab time from 2-3 pm to continue drawing and working.

This workshop is open to ages 12-18 years old. Space is limited!

A snack each day will be provided, but students will need to pack a lunch.

We are committed to making our programs accessible to all youth in our community. We use a self-selected sliding scale to ensure equitable access. When you register, simply choose the rate that best reflects your household's resources:

 Ticket Prices Range from $20 - $200

    • Community Rate: The subsidized rate for families facing financial constraints.
    • Standard Rate: The true cost of the program, which allows us to operate sustainably.
    • Supporter Rate: A slightly higher rate that helps subsidize costs for other families.

We’ll be using digital drawing tablets to bring our art to life and give our characters voices through the craft of lip sync animation.

Students will learn some basics about character design, how to use animation software, the principles of animation and how to use those principles to create the illusion that our characters are speaking. Through teamwork and creativity, students will bring their vision to life under the guidance of our skilled instructor. Each student will create a short animated clip and all work will be stitched together into one cohesive piece that will air on PhillyCAM. This piece will reflect the importance of free speech and community media, from the students’ perspective, in their own words

No experience necessary, but basic drawing skills are encouraged. All equipment will be provided to bring your ideas to life!

Due to the limited number of drawing tablets and collaborative nature of this workshop, students must be able to attend the full week.

On the last day, we will celebrate their work with a screening for workshop participants and their parents/guardians.

Location:
PhillyCAM, 699 Ranstead St. Philadelphia, PA 19106
Please reach out to Laura@phillycam.org with any questions about the program or pricing options.
