Philly Loves Poetry Presents Philadelphia Stories

The mission of Philadelphia Stories is to cultivate a community of writers, artists, and readers in the Greater Philadelphia Area through publications, professional development, and promotion. 

 

 Courtney K. Bambrick is Philadelphia Stories’ poetry editor. Her poetry has appeared at The Fanzine, Apiary, Certain Circuits, Dirty Napkin, Philadelphia Poets, Mad Poets Review, and Schuylkill Valley Journal.


Courtney teaches composition, creative writing, and literature at Rosemont College, Delaware County Community College, and Widener University.

 

Vernita Hall is the author of Where William Walked: Poems About Philadelphia and Its People of Color, winner of the Willow Books Grand Prize for Poetry and of the Robert Creeley Prize from Marsh Hawk Press; and The Hitchhiking Robot Learns About Philadelphians, winner of the Moonstone (Press) Chapbook Contest.

Her poems and essays have appeared in numerous anthologies and journals, including African American Review, American Literary Review, Atlanta Review, and Mezzo Cammin.

With fellowships from the Fine Arts Work Center and Ucross, Hall holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Rosemont College and serves on the poetry review board of Philadelphia Stories. 


 

Nicole Marie Mancuso is a graduate of Rowan University with a Bachelor's Degree in Writing Arts. She is Contest Coordinator for non-profit literary magazine Philadelphia Stories and maintains a personal blog that focuses primarily on poetry and fiction.

Her work has appeared in Apiary Magazine, Figroot Press, Spiral Poetry, and has earned her an Honorable Mention in Glimmer Train Magazine.

There are over 50 organizations that promote poetry in the Philadelphia area. They represent every poetry form, ethnic background, age, gender, and community. This series consists of a panel of guest poets and artists discussing the opportunities which their group or organization provides for poets in Philly as well as the themes that influence them. The program is broadcast live on the first Tuesday of each month. The program is free and open to everyone.
