Philadelphia's Safe Injection Sites
To fight the deadly opioid epidemic the City of Philadelphia plans to open Safe Injection Sites, facilities where opioid addicts can go use without fear of overdose or arrest.
City officials say the sites will save lives and clean up drug-infested neighborhoods. But opponents of the sites believe the facilities will only enable addicts and the central location will increase drug traffic in the city.
The co-chair of Philadelphia's Opioid Task Force and Sterling Johnson of The Harm Reduction Group SOL Collective will be on hand to answer questions and address concerns.
