Ivonne Ortiz-Rhoton, April Member of the Month

Share

I first got involved with PhillyCAM in 2017 when other members invited me to collaborate with them for PhillyCAM's Latino program, Atrévete. Excited at the prospect of a volunteer-led initiative for and by the Latina community, I jumped right into producing and editing bilingual content concerning social as well as cultural issues.

Since then, I've joined various other projects, such as the 360 VR Immigration in Full Frame project and most recently participating in the Solutions Journalism Fellowship.

Always inspired by the dedication and creativity other PhillyCAM members bring to work, I'm excited to see what the rest of 2019 brings and hope to continue helping out while also bringing my own ideas to the table.

Each month, PhillyCAM staff recognize an individual, organization or group who demonstrates exemplary participation in support of our mission as a vibrant community media center. These members apply PhillyCAM's vision and values through activities such as volunteering, outstanding program delivery, support of member productions, mentorship, ambassadorship, meaningful collaboration and other community-driven endeavors that serve the PhillyCAM membership.
