Member Meeting Recap
PhillyCAM’s Annual Member Meeting on Thursday, March 29 was a resounding success. Over 90 members, friends, board and staff enjoyed a lively presentation of highlights from the past year and were the first to hear about new member incentive programs. Highlights included the announcement of the Equipment Recyling Program which will allow members to purchase moderately priced, gently-used equipment; the House Crew, a program to match producers with TV studio crew members and offer a stipend to those volunteers; and new royalty free music for producers with Omin Music. See details on all the new member perks below.
New this year was the Pitch Session. Seventeen PhillyCAM producers had 2 minutes to pitch for their show to prospective crew, actors, collaborators and supporters. Projects pitched included a fishing show, a sitcom for millennials, a sci-fi series for families, a DIY show on how to re-purpose and recycle items and live local coverage of amateur sports leagues program.
The Election Committee announced at the close of the meeting that current board members Keith Brand, Denise James, Gigi Nikpour and Ernest Owens had been re-elected to serve another 2-year term. They will be joined by 2 new board members, Pascale Vallee, who was nominated by Liberty Resources and Len Webb, radio/podcast producer and member of the WPPM.

Equipment Recycling Program
“What happens to PhillyCAM’s old equipment?” is a frequently asked question. We’re happy to announce the beginning of our own used equipment recycling program that will allow members to purchase moderately priced, gently-used equipment.
Omni Music Catalogue Access
Members who need royalty-free music for their TV show intros, soundbeds, program breaks, etc. now have access to a music catalogue called Omni Music. PhillyCAM has recently subscribed to this online music catalogue that is rich with a wealth of audio files that can be downloaded and used for PhillyCAM projects.
Opportunities to Create, Lead & Support
We are launching a new program that matches crew with producing members who need support to make their programs. This program will be rolled out in phases beginning with recruiting skilled/certified members to serve as a house crew for productions in the main studio. Members who serve on the crew will receive a stipend.
Online Community Forum
Get yourself connected with other members through our new online community forum. This is a moderated space where members can ask questions, seek out collaborators, and exchange information that benefits the PhillyCAM community.
Getting Involved in PhillyCAM Board Committees
We are in need of more members to participate in our board committees. This is the best way for members to be involved in leading efforts that contribute to the growth of our organization. The board committees that need your input and support are:
• Membership, Outreach & Programming
We welcome feedback and ideas that will inform the planning of this year’s Cammy Awards. Planning for the 2018 Cammys will begin in April and there will be regular meetings for steering committee members to attend.
48 Hour Film Project
We’re doing it again! Last year, a tight group of PhillyCAM members and staff collaborated to participate in the 48 Hour Film Project. This competition is an exciting opportunity to collaborate creatively with others to plan, shoot, and edit a short film within a 48-hour period. There will be training and prep sessions leading up to this year’s competition.
Board Election Results
Congratulations to the newly elected candidates.
