Producing and Recording in Garageband

Students will work together to create a collaborative piece of music using live instruments and voice. Students will learn concepts of recording, looping, and tempo in Garageband. They will create a song that will be showcased on the radio, as part of our Youth Radio project on WPPM FM.

This workshop is 2 sessions. You should plan to attend both sessions to get the full experience!

Free for PhillyCAM Youth Members.

Class Dates/Time: 03/04/2019 and 03/11/2019 | 4 pm - 6 pm

Instructor: Gavin Riley

Gavin Riley is a producer and multi-media artist in Philadelphia. His work includes The Space Needle Mystery, an interactive musical take on a Choose Your Own Adventure paperback. His Halloween novelty song Halloween Surfboard was recently featured on the NBC sitcom Superstore. He has taught digital music production, photography, and helped run maker spaces at neighborhood libraries in North Philadelphia.

Creating an Instrumental Beat

Students will work produce their own track to be showcased on the radio, as part of our Youth Radio project on WPPM FM. Students will learn Native Instruments Machine- and leave with understanding the foundation for how beats and pop music are made.
