October Member of the Month, Arts2Work

Arts2Work's mission is to provide access to creative careers for those traditionally excluded from such opportunities the program's goal is to ensure equity, inclusion, and economic sustainability for creative workers, businesses, and organizations.

Arts2Work is a program of the Alliance for Media Arts + Culture. As participants in Arts2work, Jade Lewis-McFall, Myrdéliz Montes, Shanayah Wyche, Ramses Montes, Darien Woodard, and Lakesha Datts were giving creative support from May 2020-August 2020 to gain artistic growth in storytelling, audio editing, pre, and post-production. They had access to industry panels and networking opportunities, portfolio development, and mentor matching. Pre-apprentices participated in group discussions and collaborative media making exercises that made them think critically about how media is made and whose stories should be centered.

Creating media is always a process but these pre-apprentices worked tirelessly this summer during two pandemics to advance their skills, personal stories, and community.
