Women's History Month - Special Content

Every month, PhillyCAM curates a playlist of member-produced content reflecting a specific theme. Year round, our members are creating amazing content that uplifts, entertains, and educates our community. This playlist and blog is intended to highlight some of those programs.

This month's playlist is under the theme of Women's History Month. Featuring content made throughout the year and specials made specifically for this theme. You can view the playlist below.

• A Jennifer Story with Jennifer Blaine  - Part one of a two-part special by Jennifer Blaine who is championing social justice issues and women's empowerment with her signature humor at FringeArts live with readings from her own stories plus books by Ivana Trump and Bernie Sanders.

• Shero’s Quest - Episode three of a regular series that delves into the lives of inspiring women who have triumphed over health and societal challenges.
  Shero’s Quest airs on Fridays at 10:30 AM 

• This Woman’s Work - Episode one of a mini series about real women dealing with real life with conversations centered around faith, transparency, honesty, and vulnerability.
  This Woman’s Work airs on Fridays at 11:00 AM.

• Both Sides of the Bars: Women Building Power - Special topic episode of a regular series that examines America’s Criminal Justice System and sparks a discussion about its impact and effects on communities.
  Both Sides of the Bars airs on Wednesdays at 1:00 PM

• Motherhood by Choice, Not Chance by Concentric Circles -  a 2004 documentary about the history of the struggle for women's reproductive rights in the US as a safe, legal choice and facts about the threat to those rights.

• The Fragile Promise of Choice by Concentric Circles -  a 1996 documentary that examines how restrictive legislation, in an atmosphere of harassment and violence, affects the lives of abortion providers and the women who seek services.

• Women in Jazz Philly - Episode 17 of a regular series about the Women who played instruments, arranged compositions, composed and led bands in the Golden Era of Jazz.

• Women’s March Philly - A short documentary about three sisters as they join family, friends & thousands of citizens rallying in Philly in worldwide solidarity with the DC Women's March on January 21, 2017.

• Polemics: the Movement Becomes! - episode 30 of a regular series, this episode covers the struggle of rights of women to choose 'Choice' over bodies saw organizations march. Historical struggles and the peace movement on the war in Ukraine.
  Polemics airs on Mondays at 1:30 PM.

• Reproductive Justice NOW - Part four of a five-part documentary by the National Organization for Women (NOW). 

• Dykeumentary TV - Episode 21 of a regular series that highlights social justice short films of interest to the Philly metro area and beyond. This episode features a selection of short films made by Queer, Trans Women of Color.
  Dykeumentary TV airs on Sundays at 10:30 PM.

• Center for Women Veterans: Trailblazers - a special that highlights the contributions of 15 amazing women Veterans sharing stories about how their military service and unique experiences led to their continued roles as leaders and advocates in the communities where they live and work.

• Jazz From an Eclectic Mind: Women’s History Month - A live taped simulcast special for Women's History Month, where H. Alonzo Jennings speaks with women who've had an impact on jazz in Philadelphia. Jenning’s regular radio show often has special episodes dedicated to women in the field during March.
  Jazz From an Eclectic Mind airs on radio on Mondays at 6:00 PM.
