Project/Program:
New Horizons Learning Series
Episode Info:
02: Education
A facilitated conversation with subject-matter experts about the effects on the pandemic on the education of our LGBTQ+ Youth.

Join us for a facilitated conversation with subject-matter experts from Philadelphia FIGHT, the Support Center for Child Advocates, and the School District of Philadelphia about the impact of the pandemic on our youth's education.

The Coalition for Queer Equity is proud to present our 3rd Annual Learning Series: New Horizons. These learning events will once again gather medical professionals, child welfare workers, prevention workers, mentors, and executives from a variety of disciplines to “bridge-the-gap” between prevention and intervention services. Our mission remains to elevate the voices of experts to a national audience in the pursuit of equity for LGBTQ+ youth.

This year's learning event was pre-recorded on December 17th, 2021 at The Wilma Theater in front of a limited live audience, and will be streamed via Zoom throughout the Spring of 2022.

We will continue the conversation begun at our 2020 Virtual Symposium by focusing on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on LGBTQ+ youth in three specific interest areas: education, mental health, and substance use.

Our 2020 virtual symposium reached 1,500+ attendees from 46 states, US territories, and parts of Canada. We are proud to have been able to elevate stories of survivors, the wisdom of our youth advocates, and provider information from national experts, to folks who needed this material to better serve LGBTQ+ youth across the country.
